A quick roundup of everything Commander players should know this week: new decklists, a reprint-heavy Secret Lair, a rare chance at Mystery Booster Commander Edition, and what is coming next.

This week at a glance

  • Star Trek decklists are rolling out: We Are the Borg and Federation Fleet are fully revealed, Landing Party and Klingon Fury follow before release on November 13.
  • A 30-card Marvel Secret Lair with Fierce Guardianship and Tainted Pact goes on sale November 2.
  • Mystery Booster Commander Edition is on sale outside conventions for the first time, inside Festival in a Box: Atlanta.
  • No Commander bans, unbans or Game Changer changes this month. The list still has 53 cards.

Star Trek decklists are rolling out

Wizards is revealing the four Star Trek Commander decks one by one. We Are the Borg, led by The Borg Queen, is fully out: it steals opposing creatures and turns them into Borg artifact creatures, with Locutus of Borg, Hugh, First of Many and One, Borg Evolved also in the 99.

Federation Fleet followed on October 27: Jean-Luc Picard leads a Jeskai deck with five U.S.S. ships, Captain Janeway, Endgame as the second commander, and reprints like Cryptic Command, Supreme Verdict and Fractured Identity. Landing Party (Commander Spock) and Klingon Fury (Worf) are next.

  • Prerelease: November 6 to 12
  • MTG Arena: November 10
  • Tabletop release: November 13, $74.99 per deck, Collector’s Edition $159.99

We keep every detail, commander and alternate commander in Star Trek Commander precons: everything we know, and we will publish an upgrade guide for each deck once all lists are out.

A Marvel Secret Lair full of Commander staples

Marvel’s History of Heroes is a 30-card countdown kit for Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, on sale November 2 for $199.99. It reprints Fierce Guardianship, Biorhythm, Tainted Pact, Opposition Agent and a first-ever Molten Duplication, plus two early Darkhold Destiny cards. Read our full breakdown with current card prices.

Mystery Booster Commander Edition, outside conventions

Until now, Mystery Booster Commander Edition was only sold at convention events. Festival in a Box: Atlanta ($249.99, limit two per customer, while supplies last) includes a full 24-pack box. Every 20-card pack has a reprinted commander and a brand-new commander, plus playtest cards, which makes it a great Commander draft night. The new cards from Mystery Booster Commander Edition become legal in Commander on November 13, and in Legacy and Vintage on January 1. The box also comes with four foil Secret Gallery cards (Parallax Tide, Regrowth, Viridian Revel and Assassin’s Trophy) and promos of Tana, the Bloodsower and Tymna the Weaver.

No Commander changes this month

The October banned and restricted update changed Competitive Brawl only. Commander’s banned list and the Game Changers list are unchanged: 53 cards, the same as since Farewell and Biorhythm were added. Want a printable copy for game night? Grab our free Commander Brackets Cheat Sheet.
