Tricky Terrain is the Simic lands deck from Modern Horizons 3 Commander, led by Omo, Queen of Vesuva. When Omo enters or attacks, she puts an everything counter on up to one land and up to one creature: the land becomes every land type and a nonland creature becomes every creature type. The upgrade adds payoffs for those types and turns your lands into attackers.

Below you’ll find the full interactive decklist, what the deck does well, where it struggles and our recommended upgrades, split into budget ($2.67), mid-range ($26.63), premium ($12.35). Start with the cheapest swaps and work your way up.

What the deck does well

  • Omo can make a land every land type, so one counter turns a land into an extra Urza land, a Locus for Cloudpost, a Desert and more.
  • Strong ramp and landfall pieces like Avenger of Zendikar and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove are included, plus the Dark Depths and Thespian’s Stage combo.
  • Plenty of land recursion with Ramunap Excavator and Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath.

Where it struggles

  • Omo’s creature half barely matters, because few cards care about creature types.
  • Defensive filler like Fog Bank, Propaganda and Seer’s Sundial doesn’t advance the game plan.
  • Weak creatures such as Poison Dart Frog, Skullwinder and Satyr Wayfinder fill slots without payoff.

Recommended upgrades

Pick a budget tab. Every row tells you which card to take out and what to put in.

Verdict

Tricky Terrain has a deep land engine but leaves half of Omo’s ability doing nothing. Add creature-type payoffs and land animators and the deck turns its huge mana base into a real army.
